Mike Selvon asked:

Many people love to entertain out of town guests for a couple days, giving them a chance to catch up and relax without having to worry so much about time constraints. But, not everyone has a spare bed to accommodate their visitors. This is the perfect scenario, depicting why having an Intex Airbed can be particularly handy.

The are a number of different Intex models on the market and the newest ones have some advanced features that the earlier models did not have. As with many other inflatable air mattress styles that are available, Intex has also recently introduced a model that has a built in air pump.

According to some owners of the Intex Airbed, the inclusion of an air pump as part of the inflatable bed is a much needed improvement. One reviewer who owned an Intex inflatable mattress wrote that she found that it is very stable and comfortable and she gave it high marks for not losing air as so many other similar products are known to do.

Her biggest complaint in the review that she posted, was that the inflatable one was extremely difficult to inflate. The reviewer goes on to explain that the “Intex Double Quick Air Pump” which came with the queen size air bed was anything but quick.

The manual pump failed to inflate the mattress to any significant degree after fifteen minutes of pumping. She followed the instructions as provided, which stated the manual pump was designed to pump air into the mattress during both the up and down stokes.

After more than an hour of experimenting they discovered the only way to get the pump working was to do half strokes which succeeded in getting the air into the mattress, but was a very tiring ordeal.

She concluded that the only way she would make a purchase of another Intex Airbed would be if she could get one of the newer self-inflating models. It should be noted that this particular reviewer was describing her experience with the Intex Queen Downy Airbed model.

Other reviewers have posted similar complaints about the Intex Airbed, but at the same time there are many positive comments about the quality of the inflatable mattress material that was used. It also seems that the dual wave beam construction of the bed made it more stable and comfortable, especially when used by two people.

This particular product also has a flocked air bed top, comfort feature. The material has a similar feel to velour and it covers the top side of the mattress bed. This layer helps to reduce sweating which is a common problem with many plastic and vinyl mattress beds. Another benefit of this flocked top is that the rayon becomes a non-slip surface which helps to keep the sheets in place.

Another reviewer who purchased the Intex Recreation Double Airbed did not have the same issue with inflating his Intex Airbed, as the above reviewer did. However, the problem he encountered was that the inflatable one seeped air throughout the night, leaving him with body parts resting mainly on the floor by morning and with an aching back.

His final comment was that product would be the perfect air bed to offer those out of town guests who you don’t want staying for any extended period of time.

Cheap Airplane Tickets

Tom Tessin asked:

When you want to find a cheap airplane ticket, I want to walk you through the process that I generally go through. What you’re going to find out is that most airline ticket based websites online are generally the same, and there’s no way to find that cheap airline ticket for next to nothing.

#1. Consider an airline credit card – The first thing that I would recommend is an airline credit card. What you’re going to find out is that you can get a free airline ticket just for signing up. As long as it doesn’t have an annual fee, and you can apply for a card, why not try it? What you’re going to find is that it can help you down the long run as well.

#2. Start your search – If you don’t want to go the card route, that’s fine. Use comparison search engines such as Kayak. What you can do here is input your information, and it’s going to return a whole bunch of airlines, and sites and what their prices are.

#3. Look for codes – Yes, just like a retailer, you can find airline coupon codes online. It never hurts to search. The key here is to make sure that you’re searching for the most recent results. By doing so, you’re going to find that you can potentially save 10% and more.

#4. Cash back sites – The last route I would take is by purchasing your item through a cash back site. By doing this, the company will give you a kick back for shopping through them. This is a great way to get money for doing something you already were going to do! On average you can save 5%+

Air travel with kids can soon leave you feeling as if you need another vacation. Children **** to be cooped up in aircraft even more than adults do. It’s not in their nature to sit still, but the last thing you need is them running around shrieking and disturbing everybody else. What can you do to keep them entertained?

Like all difficulties that the family has to face together, air travel with kids is much easier if everyone involved understands the part they have to play. Kids will naturally be excited at the thought of going on a plane, so let them burn off some of that excitement beforehand with activities such as plane spotting and making paper planes.

Indulge their curiosity about how planes work and emphasize how important it is for passengers to behave so that the flight crew can do their job. Let your children feel that they’re performing a useful role in making the flight happen by being well-behaved. Where possible, let them assist with small tasks, such as moving luggage and finding seats.

When the plane takes off, your children will be eager to look out of the window and watch the ground moving away below. Seen from above, cities look like maps. This is a good way to introduce the concept of map making. With paper and colored pens, you can keep your children busy drawing maps of where they live, where they’re going on vacation, or fantasy places they would like to visit.

Of course, sedentary activities will only hold your children’s attention for so long. The biggest difficulty in air travel with kids is the lack of physical outlets for them. One way to get around this is to discuss the importance of stretching during air travel. With kids who are eager to do grown-up things, you should have no difficulty persuading them to try basic stretching exercises, which they can do in their seats. Have them touch their toes or see how high they can reach above their heads. Games that require concentration of the senses, such as identifying objects when blindfolded, can also help to relieve physical tension.

When it comes to games, there are many commercial board games designed for air travel with kids. These can be a good choice provided that your children have a genuine interest in them. Carry a small towel that you can spread out underneath the board to catch any stray pieces, as even magnetic and clip-together games may lose small pieces.

Air travel with kids doesn’t have to be a nightmare. Just make sure your children feel positive about it and let them know how much you appreciate their cooperation. If they are well behaved, they’ll deserve a special treat after you touch down, and then everybody will have something to look forward to.

In these times of recession, a lot more people are using coupons to save on groceries and other products. Here are a few suggestions to help you maximize the savings you realize with coupons.

Focus on the wording. Often people only look at the pictures on coupons. But if you read the fine print on the coupon, you might be able to redeem the coupon for products other than those pictured on the coupon. Manufacturers tend to highlight the priciest item in a product line on the coupon. Bigger isn’t always better. Most people think (correctly) that bigger sizes means better values. However, when it comes to coupons, the opposite is usually true. You’ll usually get the best deal by redeeming that coupon for the smallest size. Applying the discount on the coupon to the overall price of a smaller package brings down the unit price. Supersize the savings. Most coupons have a disclaimer that says you can only use one per item. However, you can still get multiple discounts on the same product, because there are two types of coupons–one issued by the manufacturer and one issued by the stores. The store coupons can be found in Sunday circulars, store fliers and on retailer and product websites. Clip both types of coupons for the same item and you can really rack up the savings. Be patient. If you find a coupon for an item you purchase on a regular basis, hold on to it for about 3 weeks before using. Merchants bet on consumers rushing out to buy the item which is featured on a coupon so they keep the item at full price. A few weeks later the store will usually put the item on sale. So, by holding on to the coupon you can get the store discount as well as the coupon discount to maximize your savings.

So, with a little creativity and effort, you can truly maximize the savings you derive from coupons! Get out your scissors and get to work!
