i want to help build houses for hurricane katrina victims, are there airline discounts for people who help?

I am a soldier in el paso, tx and just wanted to do my part, i want to bring my wife but the tickets to new orleans are very expensive. Does anyone know of any airlines that give airfare discounts to people helping out the Hurricane Katrina victims?

    NO, and consider that there are very few rental places for you to live in while you and wife are there to “help”, and that they will be very expensive also.
    Plus, you will be bringing your own tools and safety equipment won’t you?.

    I don’t believe so but you can try to get with others through different housing outreach programs (like Habitat or Emergency Communities) to see if THEY offer housing/transpo help. Tell them what you’re interested in doing and see what they say! Also, you can try to hook up with others in your area interested in maybe carpooling there and back or take the Greyhound. Craig’s List might be helpful with the rideshare or temp. housing part. Good luck!

    if you’re full time army, you should be able to fly space available from any Air Force or Navy base. I don’t know where El Paso is in relation to Corpus Christi, but there is a Navy Base there. Good luck on your endeavors. My wife and I went to Iowa and worked Flood relief this fall. You will find that it will change the way you think and feel about things. God Bless

    I was just reading the other answers and they talked about places to stay. While in Iowa, we hooked up with the Methodists and they let us stay in the basement of one of their churches. We were able to cook breakfast and they served us dinner. I would look into the church aspect. I’ve thought about going to New Orleans too, and that’s what I would do. You might end up in Miss some place working, too.
